Go Red Sari

Heart Disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S. taking the lives of more women then the next 6 leading causes of death combined.  More specifically, there is a substantial increase in the prevalence of heart disease in women in the Asian Indian community, (with the World Health Organization predicting 65% of coronary heart disease being found among this community.) While these statistics are startling, the good news is that heart disease is largely preventable.  Changing behaviors such as diet and exercise, along with “knowing your numbers”* is a starting point towards a heart healthy lifestyle.

Go Red Sari has been created to raise awareness and educate Asian-Indian women on how they can reduce their risk now, as well as, develop intervention and prevention programs.
