Call them Sauna Belts, Thermal Belts, Ab Toning Belts, Slimming Belts, Thermal Packs, Slimming thermal blanket, Sauna Blankets, Body Toning Belts … they’re all the same. Essentially something that you wrap around your body, that claims to help you lose weight. Does it really?

You’ve heard the ads talking about those weight loss belts that help spot reduction- thermal belts using heat therapy to get the toned waist you’ve always wanted. Sauna belts electronically produce infrared rays which increase the surface body temperature. Sauna thermal belt manufactures claims that core temperature increase burns away extra fat around that region. Now, external heat locally applied does cause a slight increase in metabolism in that area but it can’t burn fat away. That way, most people in India and Africa would lose weight during the summer. The weight loss is due to water being lost due to high temperature same way as you get dehydrated during summers.
And we’ve told you before, sweating does not make you lose weight. Sweating is merely a mechanism to cool the body surface and allowing heat to escape from the body.
There can be some serious repercussions of these sauna belts or thermal blankets since your body is exposed high temperatures, which may have detrimental impact on the people suffering from heart conditions and high blood pressure.
