Salutation Pose (Anjanayasana)
Sanskrit word “anjaneya” means salutation or praise from the root anj which means to honor, celebrate, and anoint, therefore this asana is also known as the salutation pose.

Benefits of the Salutation Pose (Anjanayasana)
The anjaneyasana is beneficial for the back, arms, chest, legs and hips. Regular practice will strengthen concentration and improve balance.
How to perform the Salutation Pose (Anjanayasana)
- Sit comfortably in the vajrasana (thunderbolt pose).
- Kneel up on your knees until your back, buttocks and thighs are aligned.
- While extending your left foot forward, bend your left knee at about a 90 degree angle.
- Place the palms of your hands together on your heart.
- While keeping your palms together raise your arms straight up bending backward and looking up.
- While bending backward stretch your arms backward and straighten out the right leg forward. Hold this position for as long as comfortable and breathe gently through the nostrils.
- Come back to the vajarasana i.e. position #1 and reverse the posture on the other leg.

Repeat twice on each leg.
