Thigh Exercises

Leg Muscles: Leg muscles support body weight when doing most activities, like walking, running and jogging. Building the leg muscles will strengthen the body and build endurance. Most of the biggest and strongest muscles are present in thigh and legs include some of the biggest and strongest muscles in the body. Legs are store house of 50% of the total human muscles. Legs contain are number of muscles: Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Glutes, Calves… see below for more details.

The leg muscles include the front thigh muscles (Quadriceps or Quads), back thigh muscles (Hamstring), inner thigh muscles (Adductors), outer thigh muscles (Abductors), calf muscles (the Gastrocnemius) & the Gluteus maximus, located in the butt.

Because the leg muscles are the largest in the body, building these muscles raises the metabolism which in turn burns more calories even when resting and so benefits weight loss. Exercises like lunges, squats and leg extensions target specific muscles and should be included as part of an overall exercise workout.
